Pickled onions

  • 4 onions (if you take shallots, triple)

  • 1 dl spirit of vinegar 12%

  • 2 dl sugar

  • 3 dl of water

  • 2 krm salt

  • 1 pinch of white pepper


  1. Peel and halve the onions, then cut them into strips

  2. Bring vinegar, sugar, water, salt, and pepper to a boil

  3. Add the onions and let the layers and onions cool

  4. When the layers and onions have cooled, put them in a sterilized glass jar

  5. Pour over so it covers the onions

  6. If it doesn't cover the layers, mix in more layers and pour over. Use 1 part vinegar, 2 parts sugar, and 3 parts water

  7. Store cool and dark or in the fridge after opening the jar. It then lasts for several weeks, if the jar is cleaned well!
